The
first thing one notices about Dion Archibald's paintings of Newcastle
is the unified colour, restricted to dusty ochre, an inky blue and
warm grey. Familiar views assume a new character, with the city
clustered on the slope above the harbour depicted as seductive urban
chaos, reminding us that the artist has spent considerable time
recently in Istanbul.
